About the Business

Welcome to the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Center, a cornerstone of health and wellness dedicated to serving the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. Located at 16429 Beartown Road, Baraga, Michigan, our center is deeply rooted in the rich heritage and traditions of the Lake Superior Band of Chippewa Indians. We are committed to fostering a thriving, self-sufficient community that cherishes the sovereignty of our tribe and prioritizes the well-being of future generations.
Our logo, centered around an Eagle, symbolizes strength and healing, while the circular design represents the unity and resilience of our community. This emblem serves as a constant reminder of our dedication to supporting and uplifting each other. The date of December 17, 1936, marks the approval of our Constitution and Bylaws, a significant milestone in our history.
At the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Center, we embrace the seven grandfather teachings and the concept of seven generations, integral aspects of the Ojibwe culture. Our services are designed to benefit not only our current members but also the next seven generations, ensuring the vitality and sustainability of our community.
Serving members across Baraga, Ontonagon, Gogebic, Marquette, Houghton, and Keweenaw Counties, we are proud to be part of the oldest and largest reservation in Michigan, established under the treaty of 1854. Join us as we work together to protect our way of life and nurture the health and prosperity of our people.
