"Wonderful trail to get the lay of the land and the spirit of Indiana Dunes NP. Also called the Diana trail this trail has steps, boardwalks and areas of sand. From the parking lot you can go to the left and head on down to the beach and get views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline in the distance. If you go to the right you will head to a series of wooden steps that lead into a forest. Out of the forest after about 150 steps is the boardwalk which takes you around some sand dunes and a Jack Pine forest. Continuing on you will come to a juncture where the trail is a sand path to the beach ⛱️. There are numerous signs posted about staying off the sand dunes. Lake Michigan water tends to be cool all year round. There many plants and migratory birds in the area."
