"I had to reach out to the City of Gary Zoning department, because Peerless Fence through Home Depot stated that they were having issues acquiring a permit. So I’m all ready to fly off the handle, and I get a young lady named Cheyenne on the phone. She took my information, and said that she would email Michael and another lady, can’t remember her name. It was the next day, and I hadn’t heard anything. I decided to give them another call, and Cheyenne answered, and was very courteous, and once I gave her my name, she recognized me, and remembered the issue. She connected me to Michael, and he was on it. Took care of it while I was on the phone. He went above and beyond by going to get the departments to sign off before he can approve the permit. I was so appreciative. Sometimes, the city gets so much negativity, and it really makes me question who’s being truthful, and who’s not. My experience was wonderful, and kudos to the zoning department, and Cheyenne and Michael!! You rock!!"
"I would give them zero stars if I could. -Never answer the phone -Building permits take months to review, their online portal is a joke because once it goes through the "permit clerk review" it sits in "zoning" for forever -In the portal system, it gives you an option to write a message, but when you do rarely ever get a response -You constantly have to resubmit the COI and Bond because they never seem to have them on file -The person who releases the permits is never in the office when I do get ahold of the department -It's just a constant waiting again Honestly, they have the worst customer service ever out of all the building and zoning departments in NWI. It's pretty ridiculous honestly, and I have no idea how they continue to function/operate and get stuff done..."
