Welcome to the First Baptist Church of Schererville, a warm and welcoming place of worship located at 1802 Edison Street, Schererville, Indiana. Established in April 1954, our church has a rich history rooted in faith and community. Originally meeting as a mission in a local fire station in 1953, we have grown and evolved, obtaining our charter as a Baptist Church in 1956.
At First Baptist Church, we hold steadfast to the belief that the Holy Scriptures, as preserved in the English Authorized King James Version, are the inspired words of God. Our teachings emphasize the divine nature of Jesus Christ, who became man without ceasing to be God, and the eternal gift of salvation through personal faith in Him. We preach the Gospel of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, as outlined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Our dedicated pastor, Thomas McDonnell, has been a guiding light for our congregation since 2004. With a deep-rooted faith journey that began at our church in 1974, Pastor McDonnell brings a wealth of experience, having graduated from the Pensacola Bible Institute and served in various ministries. Alongside his wife Mary and their four children—Grace, Faith, Hope, and Tommy—Pastor McDonnell is committed to sharing the timeless message of the Gospel with both new visitors and long-standing members of our church family.
