Welcome to the official website of the Calumet City Fire Department, proudly serving our community with dedication and professionalism. Located at 684 Wentworth Avenue, Calumet City, Illinois, our department is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors.
Our team comprises 50 career fire personnel, including a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, six Captains, three Lieutenants, nine Engineers, and 30 Firefighters. Our highly trained members are not only skilled in firefighting but are also certified paramedics, operating under the expert guidance of the Ingalls Hospital Emergency Medical Services System. We take pride in our specialized rescue teams, which include Hazardous Materials, Technical Rescue, and Dive Teams, ensuring a comprehensive response to any emergency.
As an active member of MABAS Division 24 and the Third Fire District, consisting of 22 municipalities, we collaborate with neighboring departments to provide mutual aid during large-scale incidents. Our partnerships with the Village of South Holland, Village of Dolton, and Village of Lansing Fire Departments ensure automatic-aid for structure fires, enhancing our response capabilities.
Operating out of two stations, we respond to approximately 8,000 calls per year, equipped with a state-of-the-art fleet including E-One Pumpers, Horton Ambulances, Chevy Tahoe Chief’s Cars, a Pierce Aerial Tower, and more. Our commitment to excellence is supported by our modern apparatus and equipment, enabling us to effectively protect and serve our community.
We are proud to be part of Calumet City’s strong tradition of service, working closely with Mayor Thaddeus M. Jones and the city administration to maintain the highest standards of public safety.

"Whoever was operating the ambulance tonight needs to be retrained or replaced. I'm an EMT myself and I lay on the horn at anyone while driving not in emergency mode. This type of behavior is unacceptable for any medical professional, especially one representing a municipality. Don't go giving EMS a bad reputation."
