"THIS IS A MUST READ! ( Plz Read Other Bad Reviews: There's a Similar Pattern) (WE ADVISE YOU STEER CLEAR)IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM with this businesses YOU WILL HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM! We just came from another optometrist. He gave us both an extensive eye exam along with a contact exam. Stating due to my wife's vision correction contacts were not an option as the MSO optometrist and staff were going let her get some if she wanted! So those who believe they know what they are doing over there, seriously give thought! We D0 NOT recommend patronizing MSO. As long as your business goes smoothly- no problem ( read the reviews that did not). But our business did not, it became complicated, and when it wasn't working out, at all we ended it before anything- manufacturing etc.,- got too far along in process! Katie Sylvester (MSO part owner) REAPEATLY PROMISED our REFUND, but NEVER did! We even wrote Dr. Hines himself-NO RESPONSE! ( HE EITHER NEVER SEEN OUR LETTER or CONDONES this type of BUSINESS PRACTICE)! We estimate at least a couple of hundred dollars lost and we can only estimate because MS0 also REFUSES to provide an itemized billing in thier inaction. AGAIN YOU are STRONGLY urged to NOT to do any kind of business with MSO!!!! In October 2021, my wife and I went there for an eye exam/contact lens exam. Using our existing frames, and insurance paying for portion, new total price was still very costly, and we paid half while waiting for finished lenses. My wife wanted to try contact lenses but couldn't schedule instruction, basically working same hours as MSO. MSO did little-to-nothing to accommodate her schedule. Made her feel like a bad client because she couldn't leave work early or arrive late, and not enough time to arrange on her lunch. After an exceedingly poor telephone conversation with staff, we decided to cut ties with MSO. We requested document(s), an itemized bill - required for the FSA, and refund from unused lenses that was due. After 4 months of repeated emails exchanged with Ms. Katey Sylvester, experienced endless excuses and promises that the requested items have been mailed, NOTHING has been received as of this writing. After 2 months of waiting for the envelope/refund that was "always in the mail", my wife's FSA was suspended because of not being able to submit the document(s) required! We also left voicemail messages, and in email responses from MSO, Sylvester wrote to quit calling and leaving messages! We also wrote and sent a certified letter to the optometrist Thomas Hines, OD. After 2 weeks, no response yet from the Doctor either, so he must condone this type of business practice. It is our MOST regrettable experience that Sylvester and MSO operates Fraudulently, are not Truthful, and without ethical business practices, having no qualms about keeping our payment money! No matter what the potential "spin", MSO still has what is rightfully ours!"

"Do not spend your money or time at this place. Ordered glasses at the end of February had to call over and over to get status updates. Finally sometime in May I cancelled the order still waiting on refund owed to me. Called today to check on refund and the person I talked to said there is nothing in my file regarding this issue. Wasting my time on break to hear this. They are simply awful."

"Horrible service. I was told they would have my new eyeglasses ready in a week or so. I called 3 weeks in and they said they just got my ‘glass’ in and the only person who cuts them was out sick. No one ever bothered to let me know. They said they would ‘bump’ me ip on the list to get my eyeglasses done for me (since I was leaving town). They never bothered calling me. I called at the 1 month and 1 day after placing my order and they said the part owner was still sick….sorry…she could call me a few days from now. I asked to cancel my order and was told she was not authorized to do that…the owner would have to call me. They charged me month earlier for services they promised me in a week or two and now I have to deal with getting my money back!!! Don’t go here…they also VERY expensive."

"Main Street Optical is a great local business here in downtown Crete. The staff is very friendly and always inviting. The Doc is great for eye exams and is extremely nice. He always makes me feel comfortable when I sit down in his chair for my annual exam. All of the office staff is amazing, and great in their knowledge of product and helpful with picking out the right frame for my face!!! I will continue to support local businesses instead of the big chain companies. Keep up the great work MSO!!!"

"The doctor is phenomenal. He was kind and darned good at what he does. His office staff is a whole other issue. Communication is non-existent. My glasses took about a month to get in which I didn't make a fuss about since my eye appointment was right before Christmas so I get it will take a little longer due to the holidays. I picked them up as soon as I received their call. On my arrival they told me the lenses were cracked by the lab so they would be ordering new lenses and I could drop off my glasses to get the lenses replaced but they wanted me to try the glasses first to make sure the prescription was good. I called on Tuesday and gave them the thumbs up. The following Thursday my lenses arrived. Since I couldn't get there that day before they closed (or the next morning as I start at 7:30 and they don't open until 9 or 9:30) and the tech isn't there on Saturday and they are closed Monday, the agreement was to drop them off Tuesday evening and they would be ready sometime Wednesday (their late day). No calls on Wednesday and nothing Thursday. I called Friday to see what was going on and I was lied to by whomever answered. They stated the lenses just came in and they would pop them in. I don't like it when people lie to me so I called them on - not rude but definitely dismayed. They asked me to hold a second (already was on hold for 4 minutes prior to talking to this person) and I said I didn't have the time (which i didn't as I was at work) and hung up. I went there after work and asked for my glasses back whether they were repaired or not. I got some song and dance about not realizing I needed them back right away (really?!) and when I called earlier she tried to do the repair but the screws on the nose piece were seized and they couldn't get the frame pieces off. So they were supposed to be getting new frames and the frame company told them I would be financially compensated. Here we are a month and a half later and I haven't been contacted by them to pick up the new glasses while drop off the old ones. I don't care about the financial compensation. I do care that they never bothered to call and let me know either there was a delay getting the frames from Brooklyn, NY (I get supply chain issues) or whatever the issue is that the new glasses aren't ready. I will continue to go there for my annual eye exam as I really like the doctor and will have to keep in mind that when I need to order glasses again, I will need to call call call to make sure I get them. Edit: Looking at my appointment calendar, I dropped the glasses off on 2/4 and picked them up on 2/7. Only reason I had it on the calendar as I had a customer in that week and needed to work around that event."
