Welcome to the Thurgood Marshall Branch of the Chicago Public Library, your local hub for learning, exploration, and community engagement. Conveniently located at 7506 South Racine Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60620, our library offers a welcoming environment for all visitors.

We are proud to support students and families with our out-of-school learning programs. Join us for "Teacher in the Library," where a certified teacher is available to assist with homework and improve study skills. This drop-in program is a fantastic opportunity for young learners to get the help they need to succeed academically. Please note that the schedule is subject to change, so we encourage you to call ahead to confirm availability.

For those driving to our location, we offer a parking lot with two accessible parking spaces, conveniently located on the south side of the building entrance. Access to the parking lot is available from Racine Avenue.

"This library is a South Side gem that I just found out about. They have a media center for kids to make music. Private rooms for kids to study. A place for young children with toys and building blocks. Yesterday, the staff made bird houses with the children.The staff is very professional and helpful! So glad that I found out about this place!"

"The younger librarians are unfriendly toward people of other races, particularly men. They don't have chromebooks or laptops for in-library use, despite having literature posted indicating they are available. I asked to speak to the branch manager, but she did not make herself available despite being present in the building. It isn't like they were busy, as usual everyone was sitting around laughing and having a real good time. There seem to be routine issues with patrons being unruly or under the influence."
