"I visited with an inflamed Pilonidal cyst. During the consultation, he drained the cyst which relieved the pain/pressure. A few weeks later, I had the cleft-lift procedure. The day after the surgery, I was in less pain than prior to the surgery. While I had to get accustomed to the sensations on my butt due to the procedure, nothing hurt. There was discomfort from pressure and swelling but as weeks passed, I was able to do most activities with minimal issue. I could not sit on hard wood chairs for weeks but with a cushion, it was fine. I felt pressure in the beginning if I sat for too long (45+ minutes) but as healing took place, longer seat times were easier. While it was annoying having gauze in my cheeks, it allowed me to monitor healing and draining. Wiping after bowel movements the first week was pretty miserable because you don’t know where the stitching goes to nor how sensitive the area might be. That improved after a week and I understood where the stitches ended. Draining the drain was simple but it was uncomfortable when it gets removed about a week after surgery. I became much more comfortable after that point though. Bathroom visits, showers, and sleeping were easier without the drain. 2 months after my surgery, I felt near 100%. I am a teacher and missed two total days of work. I took Friday off for surgery and then Monday off for another day to recover. I went to work with the drain in my pocket for a few days before getting it removed. My experience was excellent overall. I had tough moments but the surgery went well and the healing timeline was as he stated. Now I feel great and am back to normal activity."
