About the Business

Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority

Welcome to the Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority (CCMUA), your dedicated local government office committed to safeguarding the environment and public health through state-of-the-art wastewater management. Located at 1645 Ferry Avenue in Camden, New Jersey, CCMUA proudly serves the residents and communities within Camden County, a vibrant region nestled in the southwestern part of New Jersey, across the Delaware River from Philadelphia.

Our mission is to ensure the effective and sustainable treatment of wastewater, a critical component in protecting the waterways and ecosystems of Camden County. With a population of approximately 500,000 across 37 municipalities, Camden County is a diverse blend of urban, industrial, and rural landscapes. The county is strategically positioned within the Delaware and Atlantic Basins, with waterways that flow into the Delaware River and the Atlantic Ocean.

The CCMUA was established to address the pressing environmental challenges posed by outdated municipal wastewater systems. Prior to our intervention, 45 million gallons of inadequately treated sewage were discharged daily into local lakes and streams, threatening public health and the environment. Our comprehensive regional wastewater treatment system, developed at a cost of $850 million, has dramatically reduced pollution in local waterways by 90-95%, as evidenced by improved bacteria counts.

Our facilities are designed to handle wastewater from local properties, with costs shared among all users through a quarterly sewer service bill. This initiative not only enhances water quality but also supports the restoration of our streams and rivers, making them safe and enjoyable for residents, fish, and wildlife alike.

In addition to our core services, CCMUA has spearheaded several key projects, including the Atlantic Basin Interceptor Project and a solids capture initiative, significantly expanding sewer capacity and reducing pollution in our waterways.

At CCMUA, we take pride in our role as environmental stewards. Our commitment to providing proper wastewater treatment is unwavering, as it is essential for ensuring the public health and well-being of Camden County's citizens. Join us in our mission to protect and preserve the natural beauty and resources of our community for generations to come.

"This place is run by incompetent people. I have been trying to get them to change my adress for two years. Now I have a tax lien against my property because I do not receive the bills where I live."

"We have worked with CCMUA for at least five years now on our foreclosure sale properties, and emailing them is literally the best part of my day. The customer service is fantastic, and we always get exactly what we need in a timely manner. In the event of something not lining up, they're willing to work with us to figure it out and put in extra work to make sure we're not overcharged. Always excited to buy properties in Camden County :) Thank you!"

"Had an issue paying my bill and due to end of year billing, I was told to go to my township. My township said it wasn't their problem yet. I decided to call the main number and used the extension given. I spoke to an extremely nice woman who went above and beyond to help me get this done. Wish I had gotten her name but I spoke to her on Tuesday, November 24th. Just wanted to thank her again and let people know how fantastic she was to me."

"Trying to get in touch with someone else at CC Mua is impossible. I only wish to ask why the park Has been open to but the grass is knee high. Limey Ditch park is directly behind my residence and I watch the lawn Service cut the CCMua's grass weekly, but while the park is left to grow wildly, it is which is directly behind their building. They will not let people enter building, yet I watch them come to work there daily. If a park is open it should not have grass waist high. My 2 yr old is unable to play in park and to me that is an issue. I hope this situation will be resolved."
