Single Stream Recycling with Blue Diamond

We have partnered with Blue Diamond to offer convenient single-stream recycling for residents. This means you can dispose of cardboard, paper, glass, tin, plastic, and aluminum in the same container for weekly collection every Wednesday. Please ensure recyclable materials are prepared properly:

- Paper: Include catalogs, newspapers, magazines, and office paper. No plastic bags or laminated materials.

- Glass: Rinse bottles thoroughly.

- Aluminum: Beverage cans only, no foil or pie plates.

- Tin Cans: Rinse and remove residue.

- Plastic: Containers marked #1 through #7 are accepted, please rinse.

Garbage and Bulk Item Collection

Blue Diamond Disposal also handles our weekly garbage and bulk item collection. Place your garbage cans at the curb the night before collection, but no later than 5:00 AM on Thursday. Each household may put out up to four 32-gallon cans with tight-fitting lids. Bulk items such as furniture and mattresses can be placed curbside with your garbage.

For specific items like refrigerators and air conditioners, a Green Sticker can be purchased for $12 at Borough Hall. White Goods such as washers and dryers require a Yellow Sticker for $5 and are collected by appointment.

Drop-Off Services at Smith Street DPW Facility

Residents can drop off motor oils, car batteries, antifreeze, and tires at our facility on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A nominal fee is required for tire disposal.

Hazardous and Electronic Waste Disposal

For hazardous waste, Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority (SCMUA) in Lafayette holds special events where residents can dispose of materials like paints and chemicals free of charge. Electronic waste, including TVs and computers, must be recycled at SCMUA, as per the New Jersey Electronic Waste Management Act.

Additional Services

- Paper Shredding: Available every 3rd Friday of the month.

- Mulch and Compost: Free regular mulch and compost, with colorized options available for a fee.

Join us for Borough Council meetings held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Borough Hall Council Chambers. Your participation is vital to the community.
