"I love it when a town preserves its past like this. They could've easily bulldozed this station house down, but instead they preserved it, added some track and signals for context, and allowed it to still be the heart of their beautiful village. And Califon is indeed beautiful. Quiet, small, and filled with gorgeous architecture. And that bridge of theirs, wow. But I'll get to that in another review. This one sings the praises of a grand, little gal from a time long past. Rail travel. Steam engines hissing and squealing to a stop right in front of her. People boarding and and coming off, mixing together on the platform. Califon is proud of its heritage as a rail stop and it shows in this little station house."

"There used to be a few seats here. By going on the Columbia trail this used to be a nice rest area. This is right by Califon. Weekdays and Sat there is a neat General Store just a block from here, drinks and food. That store is closed Sunday. There used to be a gift - historic store in the train station years ago during summer months. There is a parking lot across the street for trail walkers / bikers."
