Welcome to the practice of Dr. Chad Smalley, MD, an esteemed orthopedic surgeon located at 2415 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee. A native of Oak Ridge and a distinguished graduate of Centre College, Dr. Smalley brings a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to patient care in his home state.
Dr. Smalley graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed a rigorous five-year residency in orthopedics at West Virginia University, gaining invaluable experience at a Level 1 Trauma Center. His passion for knee and shoulder arthroscopy and sports medicine led him to a fellowship in San Francisco, where he served as a team doctor for the San Francisco Giants and introduced the innovative reverse total shoulder replacement technique to the Chattanooga region.
As a board-certified orthopaedist, Dr. Smalley specializes in shoulder and knee arthroscopy and sports medicine. He is the Medical Director at the Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics and plays an active role on their Executive Committee and Surgery Center Board. His dedication to advancing orthopedic care is evident through his consulting roles with industry leaders and his involvement in research and design teams for arthroscopic devices and instrumentation.
Dr. Smalley is passionate about joint preservation, OrthoBiologics, and cutting-edge treatments. His international certifications and involvement in global projects reflect his commitment to sharing his expertise and caring for diverse populations.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Smalley enjoys an active lifestyle, participating in outdoor activities such as skiing, climbing, and mountain biking. He cherishes time spent with his family on Lookout Mountain, alongside his wife Christy and their three children.
