"I applied for an office job with this company. They didn’t have anybody to do the schedule so I had to help with that instead of doing the regular job that I was hired for the owner is an overbearing, micromanaging, moron. He would wait half the day to let me know that the schedule was empty, and then ask me to fix it so I would start calling and scheduling people and I would be right in the middle of a phone call he would come in and press the mute button and start telling me what to say then he would press unmute and I would say what he told me to say then I had to press mute again and then listen to him tell me what to say back-and-forth back-and-forth. I could not even understand what the person on the phone was saying because he was talking the entire time. He also told me that I needed to listen to him instead of the person on the phone because he’s the one writing my paychecks. He also says that the rule in the office is they do not trust caregivers because caregivers are liars , he also doesn’t trust the DCS staff from the state of Tennessee that they work for because he says they don’t know anything in the two months that I worked there there were six or seven scheduling girls that he hired and they either quit or he fired them because they told him they could not work under the pressure that he was putting them under. He would also tell you to do things one way and then come and ask you why you did it and you would say because you told me too and he’d say oh I did didn’t know well now I’m gonna change it. And you can either roll with the changes or get left behind. Then he would say That’s kind of frustrating isn’t it ha ha ha ! and I’m just thinking really ?? How is someone supposed to do a job if the instructions they’re given to do it are constantly changed and by constantly I mean all day long if I booked a caregiver, he would say you should’ve booked this person instead and I’m like well you weren’t here and I was supposed to fill the schedule so I did it the best I could and it was never good enough he doesn’t treat his employees with respect, but demands to get respect. He even told me one time that we needed to hold a caregivers pay because he couldn’t get them to answer the phone and I told him you can’t hold their pay because they DID work the hours that you were paying them for just because they don’t wanna answer the phone when you call doesn’t mean that you can hold back their paycheck. One time it was a mother and daughter, who usually works shifts together, and the mother wasn’t doing her timesheets correctly so he said he was going to hold back her and her daughters pay until the mom turned her time sheets in correctly I was appalled I really did like the job that I was doing but I cannot work under somebody who doesn’t appreciate anything you do especially when he constantly changes what the expectations are. You cannot ever meet the expectations because they are unclear. Gretchen and Holly that worked there were VERY nice and understanding and I think the only reason that they can put up with it is because they are his family."
"I have worked for this company since April. This is one of the best professional healthcare organizations I have worked for. Very understanding Easy to talk to and work with you any way they know how I love this company"
"I have been an RN working with Amara Home Care for 9 years. They try to match the client with the appropriate caregiver. I have recommended them to many people. The office staff is very helpful and friendly."
"Would not recommend to anyone, wish I️ could give 0 stars. As a former office employee... they hire awful and unreliable caregivers. They treat privately-paying clients like they are on a pedestal and throw the State-paying clients to the wolves. They have taken caregivers away from state clients to send to private paying clients, on more than one occasion. Awful pay with no benefits at all, not a single day of PTO for office staff or caregivers. Owner is micromanaging, manipulative, and doesn’t trust people to do their jobs, even when they come in with more experience!! Doesn’t tell caregivers where the jobs are, or the type of job, just a “general” idea that he calls “discretion” so caregivers will be manipulated into accepting jobs. Caregivers should know exactly what part of town they are going to, and how awful/nice the job is before accepting the job!! They even have a few specific “awful/irritating” caregivers on standby to send to dirty or rude clients houses. When potential caregivers call in to ask about job openings, they don’t even tell the potential caregivers that the office is in lookout valley. They deceive them and twist it to be “right off 27.” For office staff, the job posting doesn’t even give a name for people to look up who the company is before an interview. Just “AHCI.” Just more manipulation. Doing things “ethically and honestly” is the owners “motto” but he definitely does NOT live up this by constantly lying and manipulating caregivers!! The most toxic workplace I️ have ever worked at, by a long shot. There’s a reason they aren’t on Facebook posting and looking for reviews. All the previous employees and caregivers post honest reviews and they don’t want bad publicity! Would NOT recommend this company to any sort of potential employee, and definitely do not hire this company for your family!!"
"The only reason families have had any good experiences with these folks is because of the caring nature of the caregivers hired. To work for this company is hell. There is no training at all. You are thrown in and held liable for someone's loved one. They are too cheap to hire CNAs and registered nurses so caregivers are changing catheters without proper knowledge. I was told that it was a 24 hour service but when I called to get information on my shift the next morning I was told to call back during business hours because she was home with her kids despite the fact that was the 24 hour hotline. My mother works for Adult Protective Services and she suggested reporting them. Its absolutely crazy"
