"I spent 7 hot and humid summers of my youth on this property with my Grandpa John & Grandma Ona Butler. My Aunties, Uncles, and Cousins from the Butler Clan instilled in me the importance of Family, the rewards of a honest days hard work, the value of my word, knowing my self-worth, appreciating a close relationship with the Lord, and believing I could accomplish any goal I set my mind to. Whenever I get back to the Butler Homestead it fills me with pride and a Family legacy of many achievements and sacrifices. I truly believe what I learned as a child from my Southern Illinois Pulaski County roots guided me in my personal achievements as 29yr career Soldier of the US Army. When I told my Soldiers I grew up with regular trips to nearby Metropolis they never believed me. My love of comic books grew partly because Superman was a little bit more real to me than the rest of my Friends."
