Welcome to the Davenport Fire Department Training Center, located at 1200 East 46th Street, Davenport, Iowa 52807. As a cornerstone of community safety and preparedness, our facility is dedicated to training the brave men and women who protect our city every day.

Established in 1882, the Davenport Fire Department has grown to a team of 137 dedicated professionals, including 135 firefighters and 2 civilian staff members. Our department operates eight engine companies and three truck companies, strategically positioned across seven stations throughout Davenport. Each year, we respond to over 19,000 emergency incidents, ranging from structure fires and medical emergencies to hazardous materials incidents and technical rescues.

Beyond emergency response, we are committed to prevention and public education. Our programs reach all community members, from young children to senior citizens, instilling crucial safety knowledge and practices. Our fire companies also conduct annual commercial inspections to identify and mitigate fire hazards, contributing to our exceptional Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating of Class 2/2X—placing us in the top 5% nationwide.

As an internationally accredited agency recognized by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), we exemplify commitment to excellence. This accreditation, first achieved in 2011 and reaffirmed in 2021, underscores our dedication to high-quality service and continuous improvement.

Our Training Division is pivotal in preparing our firefighters with over 16,000 documented training hours annually. Located on the northern end of the Public Works property, our 2-acre training center features a two-story burn building for live fire training and an OSHA prop for technical rescue simulations. Our recruit academy provides new firefighters with over 240 hours of intensive training, equipping them with the skills needed to earn State of Iowa certifications and excel in their roles.

At the Davenport Fire Department, we pride ourselves on our responsiveness, professionalism, and integrity. Many of our firefighters are trained as paramedics, capable of administering life-saving techniques within the critical four-minute window during medical emergencies.
