Established in 1882, our department has grown to an impressive team of 137 dedicated employees, including 135 skilled firefighters and 2 civilian staff members. Our commitment to safety and prompt response is reflected in our operation of eight engine companies and three truck companies, strategically positioned across seven stations in the city, responding to over 19,000 emergency incidents annually.

Our services encompass a wide range of emergencies, including structure fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, technical rescues, and citizen assistance. Beyond emergency response, we are deeply committed to community safety through our proactive prevention programs. These initiatives include public education for all age groups and annual commercial business inspections to identify and mitigate safety concerns and fire hazards.

The Davenport Fire Department prides itself on its prestigious Class 2/2X rating from the Insurance Service Office (ISO), placing us in the top 5% nationwide for ISO ratings. We are also an internationally accredited agency with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE), a distinction held by only a select few agencies globally. Our training center, located at the northern end of the Public Works property, offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a 2-story burn building for live fire training and an OSHA prop for technical rescue simulations.
