Our facility is committed to reducing recidivism through a variety of structured programs aimed at facilitating effective re-entry into society. We take pride in our Faith & Character-based dormitory and our role as the host facility for the Paulding Residential Substance Abuse Treatment program. As a Tier I, II, and STEP Down facility, we provide a comprehensive approach to offender management and rehabilitation.

Hays State Prison consists of seven general population dorms, each with 64 beds, totaling 448 beds. Additionally, we have a Fast Track building with 256 beds, six Tier II dorms with 218 beds, and three Tier I dorms with 160 beds. Our facility also includes an outside fire station with 10 beds and an infirmary with 9 beds. We accommodate approximately 750 level II mental health offenders across the institution. Our specialized units include a C.E.R.T. Team, a Tactical Squad, and a Canine Unit.
