"I'll no longer be a client here... I had a root canal done by Dr. Brock that went well enough. I didn't ask any questions just let him do his thing and left. However, I've had issues with my tooth for a few months now and went back for a follow up. This is when I experienced his "lack of bedside manners" (as I've read in several posts now). Dr. Brock was not unprofessional but he definitely struggled BIG time with the basic principle of "listening to UNDERSTAND" rather than "listening to respond". He cut me off and did not really listen to me or my concerns or my questions. Several times we just talked over each other and I couldn't believe how stubborn he was about getting his point of view in. I definitely left his office very very frustrated and feeling a little degraded. The way he answered my questions and a few comments he made were perceived by me that I was not as smart as him. He at one point said: "I'm sorry I'm not being clear. I feel like I'm talking in circles." To which I replied: "that's because you're not answering my questions." He *absolutely * was talking in circles. Instead of helping me to understand my situation better he treated me like I was dumb. Very disappointing to leave a practice at 8 in the morning feeling frazzled and disrespected. Dr. Brock, if you could learn the art of listening to understand and not listening to respond you'd have nothing but glowing reviews."

"I wish there was an option to give negative stars, I would. I went to Dr Brock a few years back for a root canal. My very first one and i had no idea what to expect. Im a type one diabetic and had a lot of fear! He was condescending, rude, and it was incredibly painful. I didn't realize until I had my 2nd root canal with a new endodontics office just how abnormal my first experience was, so posting this now. Dr Brock was very frustrated that I was nervous. All i was doing is shaking nothing crazy, but he was huffing and clearly agitated the entire time. He did not explain much to me, just was in a rush to get the procedure over with. He at one point looked at me and said "do we need to just reschedule this" because i was in so much pain while he was injecting the numbing med into my gums that I had tears rolling down my face. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. Go see North River Endodontics in hixson. They are extremely professional and Dr Davis is a wonderful person."

"All I can say is I wish I would have read all the negative reviews before my husband had treatment here. Dr. Brock is rude, condescedning and honestly just a complete jerk. The treatment he did on my husband did NOT work because the tooth was cracked to the bone. We went back several times for him to tell us to get a night guard. He never would admit there was infection. Our general dentist kept telling us to go back bc the tooth was definately infected. Even with the xray pulled up and me pointing out the area of infection that our dentist showed us he would not admit it was infected. Fast forward to today and we had a second opinion telling us the tooth is cracked to the bone should have never had treatment and needs to be extracted. They said his infection was severe. Do yourself a favor and find a qualified endo, read reviews and get second opinions. This was waste of time, money and we got the pleasure of being talked down to by Dr. Arrogant. Not to mention my husband has been in pain for months."

"If you’re looking for a dentist with good beside manner, I do not recommend Matthew Brock. He may be good at what he does, but the lack of empathy and condescending speech left me with a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). I had a root canal performed on a Wednesday afternoon and went back in on Friday morning because I was still in excruciating pain. I asked if he had killed the entire nerve and Dr. Brock was quite agitated and offended by my question. He then asked me if I had followed the post-op instructions and I had just taken a hydrocodone that morning so I was a little flustered and unable to tell him how much Ibuprofen and Tylenol I had been taking. He then takes the sheet of paper and proceeds to talk to me like I’m a child, pointing to the instructions on the page. I should’ve said something then but I was kind of in shock that he was even speaking to me like that. I wish I would’ve said something. He told me I needed another root canal on the tooth beside the one I had previously had done and I told him I would consider it. He said he had afternoon times available if I decided I wanted to get it done that day. After returning home, the pain intensified and I called back later that afternoon at one of the aforementioned times and he refused to see me that day. He said he could see me on Monday afternoon. Of course, I felt like I was being punished for not calling in sooner. With that being said, the root canal was fast and efficient and he did explain each step thoroughly, but if you have any dental anxiety or need someone who has empathy, I would not recommend Dr. Brock. In my opinion, you can be the very best in your field of work, but if you lack general people skills and empathy, the old adage will prevail, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”"
