Our Leadership

The Houston County Commission is led by Chairman Brandon Shoupe, who has dedicated his tenure to fostering economic growth and improving communication with constituents. Since joining the commission in 2014, Shoupe has been a proactive leader, holding regular town halls, managing county expenses efficiently, and focusing on quality of life initiatives. Apart from his role in local government, he serves as Treasurer for the Alabama School of Cybertechnology & Engineering and is an entrepreneur in internet-based businesses.

Commissioner James Curtis Harvey Jr. represents District 1 and brings a wealth of experience and a proactive approach to his role. Elected in 2005, Harvey has been instrumental in implementing plans for countywide improvements, including a water system and the future I-10 connector. He serves as the ACCA Minority Director and actively engages in legislative matters affecting Houston County and Alabama.

Commissioner Tracy Adams, representing District 2, is a retired Sergeant Major from the Alabama Army National Guard. With a strong background in leadership and community service, Adams is committed to bringing his military principles of accountability and teamwork to his role. He continues to serve the community as an Army Instructor at Dothan High School's JROTC Program.

Commissioner Ricky Herring, a dedicated law enforcement professional, represents District 3.
