Welcome to Weir River Community Garden, a cherished local gem located at 140 Turkey Hill Lane, Hingham, Massachusetts. Nestled within the breathtaking 75-acre Weir River Farm, this family-friendly destination is one of the last working farms in the Hingham area, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and agricultural heritage.
Originally part of the early-20th-century country estate of renowned artist Polly Thayer Starr, the farm captivates visitors with its diverse livestock family, including horses, pigs, cows, chickens, sheep, and even a llama. Our fields and pastures are surrounded by oak and red cedar woodlands, providing a habitat for a variety of wildlife. The scenic Weir River meanders through the farm, adding to the picturesque landscape.
Weir River Community Garden is more than just a park; it’s a vibrant hub for connecting people to local food systems. Through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, you can enjoy fresh, organic produce, grass-fed meats, and pasture-raised poultry, all sourced directly from our farm. Join us from June to October for a taste of farm life and support sustainable agriculture.
Visitors can explore our network of trails, which connect to the expansive Whitney & Thayer Woods and nearly 5,000 acres of open space. Our trails are open year-round, inviting you to discover the natural wonders of the South Shore.
For those interested in educational experiences, Weir River Community Garden offers programs for school and youth groups, fostering a deeper understanding of farm-based education. Our partnership with Autism Alliance ensures that our farm is an Autism Welcoming environment, providing sensory-responsive options for visitors of all abilities.
Throughout the year, Weir River Farm hosts a variety of events, from concerts and sunset picnics to field trips and summer camps. On weekends, our Open Barnyard invites families to interact with our animals and experience life on a working farm.
