Welcome to Charter Street Park, your local oasis of tranquility and recreation nestled in the heart of Boston at 21P Charter Street. As part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department's extensive network, Charter Street Park is committed to providing a clean, green, safe, and accessible open space for all residents and visitors to enjoy.
Our department proudly oversees a vast array of 2,300 acres of parkland throughout the city, ensuring that each of our 217 city parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields is well-maintained and welcoming. Whether you're looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll, a family picnic, or some active outdoor fun, Charter Street Park offers a serene environment perfect for relaxation and recreation.
In addition to our beautiful parks, we manage two golf courses, 65 squares, 17 fountains, 75 game courts, and more, all contributing to Boston's vibrant outdoor lifestyle. We also care for approximately 125,000 trees, enhancing the city's natural beauty and providing shade and comfort to park-goers.
Our dedication to community engagement is reflected in our diverse programming, including free family favorite movies in neighborhood parks and the return of the six-concert Tito Puente Latin Music Series in July and August. For those seeking outdoor excitement this summer, be sure to explore our complete schedule of free events and activities suitable for all ages.
Experience the unique offerings of the Alianza traveling beer garden, brought to you by Roundhead Brewing Company and Fresh Food Generation, in partnership with the City of Boston. This first-of-its-kind initiative adds a touch of refreshment and culinary delight to your park visits.
At Charter Street Park, we are committed to preserving the city's historic and urban green spaces, including our responsibility for three active cemeteries and 16 historic burying grounds. Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, tree removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings are currently conducted online.
Join us at Charter Street Park and discover a vibrant community space where nature, recreation, and culture come together. We look forward to welcoming you to our park and hope you enjoy all that Boston's parks have to offer!

Reviews
"Hidden by he buildings, a bit dirt by the litter but a pretty calm and quit place to rest and read a book, it is too small, so it is not much to do on it"
"The most serene, peaceful little peace of New England heaven!"
"Secluded park tucked away off the main drag of the North End. A good place to sit for a little when Paul Revere Mall is inundated with tourists and you don’t feel like going down to the water. Already not a lot of space/seating so I almost don’t want non-locals to see and know about this."
"A homey little park in the North End. Serene at any time of the year, it was my favorite place to catch a breath of fresh and refreshing air. It is small and out of the way, so fairly difficult to find and maybe somewhat creepy to those who are unaccustomed to the neighborhood (particularly with a graveyard nearby)."
"This place is a great little park. Very nice area to rest and relax. We just passed through here on our way walking around the North end. It looked like a great place to bring kids as well as dogs or pets. Theres a small chess board as well as some chairs and stuff to sit on. It's also a great way to pass through ad theres a passage out the back to the bay area. Very nice little park."
