"I never had been to Hyde Park. I got a job that requires me to travel to different facilities in Massachusetts. I passed it on the way home in Burlington. If it wasn’t for the detour, I never would’ve seen how pretty this town or city is! When you are in a bubble, your whole life living in Massachusetts you tend to not travel even to towns that are one hour away! Next time I have to work in Jamaica Plain, or Hyde Park, which is a good chance that I will, I will definitely relax in this park and do some schoolwork."
"A tiny unexpected treasure in the middle of busy streets! I climbed up this little hill and marveled at the fall colors and relative hush. What a treat."
"STAY AWAY!! Its now almost July and the grass has not been cut!!! The weeds are up to my waste. Broken glass is everywhere!! The pathway to the top of the rock where the flag is has not been cut in years! It also is full of broken glass!! Do not bring your children here as posted.I pay taxes....why do we have a run down for gotten park in the middle of the city ???"
"Good place to climb and see the neighborhood from a higher place. Nice 180°view of the neighborhood. I would recommend a picnic under the changing leaves. Street parking is very limited, but I live next door. It is also within range ofa Pokemon Stop and Battle Gym."
"I was intrigued because my wife, a local of Hyde Park, didn't know about this park. It seems mostly forgotten or overlooked by residents. There is a nice sign welcoming drivers into Hyde Park, MA and a smaller sign stating that Dell Rock Park is managed by the Boston department of land management (or some such). I didn't see any information on why it was named Dell Rock or when it was made into a park. There is a public bus stop right out front and a single metal park bench behind the bus stop and in the park proper. There are three cement steps from the sidewalk up to the level of the bench. But, I did not see or find any steps or clear path to the top of the rock! I made my way up as best I could, and was rewarded with a very nice view of a beautiful sky above the tree and roof tops of Hide Park. I was surprised and saddened by the amount of trash up there. I have to think it didn't just all blow in, which means people are climbing the rock and leaving their soda bottles and candy wrappers behind! In any case, there is also an American flag and more exposed rock. Other than the view and a few minutes worth of climbing, there isn't much to do up there. I could imagine someone leaving a geocache (if the land managers allow that) or climbing the rock for photo opportunities in the winter or sunrise/sunset. It was fun to say I climbed and photographed the highest elevation in Hide Park, and know a little something about an overlooked corner of the community."
