African hair braiding by Rihanna

"Tried to get in contact with Rihanna for 3 days, sending her photos of what I wanted, the size of the braids, and asking for an estimate of how much everything would be. For 3 days it took her each day to answer each question separately; It also took me to go to the salon myself to show her and her sisters the style I wanted, for them to confirm what I wanted. My appointment was at 11AM, and I didn’t leave until 11:17PM. I’m a stickler on getting the job done, which they did, but the way they speak to each other and clients is what didn’t sit right with me. One lady that was doing my hair asked another worker to mix the braiding hair & she told her no & left the shop… which took longer for me to get my hair finished. This happened twice (40 minute wait times). And as I sat for the 11 hours, they continuously kept taking clients who weren’t serviced for another 3 hours. In the picture shown while I sat, there were roaches crawling from behind the refrigerator as well as two rodents running around with each other closer to the wall. I told the person that was doing my hair what I was seeing, and they shrugged it off. For 11 hours I sat because I was too scared to use the bathroom as what I was seeing on the floor was deplorable. Overall, my hair was nice, but for 300 dollars you would think the upkeep would be better, and their attitudes were nicer. If they know they have a client whose hair will take more than 8 hours to do, there should be 2-3 people doing their hair at the same time instead of intaking clientele for more money. Sometimes, quality of the overall experience debunks everything else. I hope this business does better."

"I have been going to Rihanna for 6 years and I am throughly pleased each time. I love my styles, she understood my texture of hair and she's always on time. I have recently moved to another state and I still come back every couple of months to have her do my hair. Best thing her braiding doesn't hurt."

"I had the worse experience with this rodent infested salon. I wish I never even attempted to trust these people. Rihanna is unprofessional and I would never advise you go here. Her sister has a bad attitude an very rude. I expressed I could not have tight braids as I have thin hair. They braided as they wanted and pulled out so much of my hair. She charges me $200 for a style I hated and my hair to fall out. Upon finding out she offered to redo a style and when I got here continued to speak on her language about not doing my hair. She asked me to come outside and offered me a $50 refund and said that’s all she can do. Filing a complaint against this business as well. And for heaven sake call the board of health because they are definitely infested with mice and rodents running around while you’re in the salon. Never had such a gross experience. Wish I checked the reviews before I came here. I advise you do NOT GO RO THIS SALON. ."

"If your time is precious to you, don’t go to Rihanna’s salon because she doesn’t care at all. You may have an appointment and she treats you like a walk in, the wait can be 2 to 3 hours. I’m one of her clients since 2 years, I just go there just because she gives me something different from what I used to have before from the other hairstylists. She always gives me what I asked for and my braids last very long( 2-3 months). In the other hand, no customer service, no cleanliness, excessive language. They speak their languages when they don’t want clients to understand what they say, their language has a percentage of Spanish and I understand every time they’re talking about people’s business. The only thing that makes me go there is just the quality of the braids. Very unprofessional"

"VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. So rude and unfriendly. Also, the salon is very uncleanly, and they reuse UNSANITIZED combs and brushes on every client’s hair.. That’s gross! They don’t wash their hands before and after each service. They even talk about customers behind their back, once they leave. Two stylists were making fun of my hair, speaking in their own language. IS THAT REALLY HOW YOU TREAT A CLIENT? They also take FOREVER to complete a hairstyle. My appointment was at 10am, I left the place at 11pm, just for a hairstyle I didn’t even like. They took breaks in between to talk, laugh, and eat, while I was sitting in the chair doing nothing but waiting to get my hair finished so I can go home. The funny thing is, the hair doesn’t even last! I got my hair braided 2 weeks ago, and it already started slipping off, I wasted my money. They had the audacity to think I was going to tip them after all they’ve done. ZERO customer satisfaction skills, I won’t be coming back here again. It’s not worth it."
