Welcome to Hollydale Library
Located at 12000 Garfield Avenue, South Gate, California, the Hollydale Library has been a cornerstone of the community since its founding in 1929. Originally housed in a small residence, the library has grown and evolved, finding its permanent home in a dedicated building since November 1966. Our library is proud to serve as a vibrant hub for learning, creativity, and community engagement.
Supported by the dedicated Friends of Hollydale Library, a volunteer-run organization, we offer a variety of services and events to enrich the lives of our patrons. From book clubs to educational workshops, our events cater to all ages and interests.
Join us in celebrating creativity with LA County Library’s 45th Annual Bookmark Contest, a wonderful opportunity for young artists from grades K-12 to showcase their talents. We also invite you to participate in the One Book, One County celebration, a community-wide reading event held in collaboration with the LA Public Library.
In addition to our rich collection of books, we offer modern conveniences such as Kindle Paperwhites pre-loaded with expertly selected titles, and laptops available for in-library use. With your LA County Library card, you can also access a vast array of digital content, including eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, music, and movies.
Our library is more than just a place to read; it's a place to learn, create, and connect. We offer Homework Centers and online homework help to support students’ educational needs and Family Place Library resources to support early childhood development.

"I have been here twice with my brother. My brother has a library card here and he goes here all the time to make copies. He said you can have 10 free copies made here. The first time I went with him was to make copies. The second time I went with him was to use the computer and to download forms and print it on the computer, but I was having some problems trying to find the forms on the computer, so my brother asked one of the ladies in the library to help me. One of the ladies came over to help me on the computer and she was able to locate all of the forms that I needed, but she couldn't open up one of the forms, because she said it must be of a sensitive matter, because it wouldn't let her open it up at all. Than I looked at the copies of my forms that I kept for my records and realized that I didn't need a copy of this form, because I had a copy of this form. Than I said to her that I was sorry for having her to look for a form on the computer that I already had. I told her thank you for helping me on the computer, you was very nice and kind. I'm thankful and grateful for all that you done for me. The staff at the library are very nice and helpful."
