About the Business

Cudahy Library

Welcome to Cudahy Library, a cherished community institution with a rich history dating back to 1913. Located at 5218 Santa Ana Street, Cudahy, California, our library has grown from its humble beginnings in a private home to a vibrant hub of learning and engagement. Over the years, we've relocated several times, each move reflecting our commitment to expanding resources and enhancing service for our patrons. Today, we proudly stand as part of the LA County Library system, offering a wide array of services and programs to meet the diverse needs of our community.

At Cudahy Library, we provide access to a vast collection of books, eBooks, eAudiobooks, and multimedia resources. With your LA County Library card, you can easily download or stream content from the comfort of your home. For those seeking hands-on resources, we offer Kindle Paperwhites pre-loaded with expert-selected titles, and laptops available for in-library use.

Our library is more than just a place to borrow books. We are a Family Place Library, dedicated to supporting early childhood development through parent education, emergent literacy, and socialization activities. We also offer Homework Centers equipped with enhanced resources and technology to support students' educational needs.

In addition to these services, we host various events and programs throughout the year, including the annual Bookmark Contest and the One Book, One County Author Talk and Celebration. While our library will be temporarily closed for a construction project starting August 21, we invite you to visit nearby library locations to continue enjoying our services.

Join us at Cudahy Library, where history meets innovation, and community meets opportunity. Whether you're here to explore our collections, participate in programs, or simply find a quiet space to read, we look forward to welcoming you.

"Overall, a small but decent library. I tend to pick up my holds over here and the staff are generally nice. However, I stop short of giving it 5 stars due to the odd fact that today (Jan 2) was supposed to be open today, but it was mysteriously closed at 12pm (the time it is supposed to be open on Tuesday). The website did not mention of an emergency closing nor the city hall had any calls from the staff about it. Apparently they tend to close when there’s no patrons at all (even when it is supposed to be open) but open when they start coming in. I do hope this is a one time thing and not a repeated occurrence…otherwise it looks pretty bad on the library and staff for them to be doing this frequently."

"Some of the gatherings of neighborhoods crop up, unexpectedly. This library is one of them! It's rather an attractive tiny gem and those surrounding old American Craftsman homes adds a unique charm. Although it's relatively small in contrast to a generic library, it has everything you need ( in my opinion). Computers, study desks, a sizable collection of the classics, and friendly staff. In addition, the City Hall is literally only a few feet away. Followed by a tiny skatepark, all of these sites are all within Cudahy Park. This could be found in the intersections of Park and Cecilia Avenues. I plan to visit this small library, occasionally from my commute, every so often."
