About the Business

Lloyd Taber Library-Marina del Rey Library

Welcome to the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library, a cherished community resource located at 4533 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey, California. Established in 1976 by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, our library was designed to cater to the unique needs of the Marina community. In 1999, thanks to the generous contributions of the Marina Foundation, the Board of Supervisors, and the County of Los Angeles Public Library, we proudly expanded our facility to include the William R. Pagen Nautical Wing and the Greg and Mimi Wenger Community Room. Our library was renamed in honor of Lloyd Taber, a key benefactor whose support was instrumental in our development.

Situated in the heart of a vibrant small craft harbor, the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library offers an extensive Nautical Collection, tailored to the interests and informational needs of boating enthusiasts and the local community. We are committed to fostering a love for reading and learning through a variety of programs and resources, including our annual LA County Library Bookmark Contest, which invites young artists to showcase their creativity.

Join us for the "One Book, One County" celebration, enjoy free access to eBooks, audiobooks, and more with your LA County Library card, or utilize our state-of-the-art Homework Centers. Our library is also proud to offer specialized services such as the Consumer Health Information Program and the Family Place Library initiative, supporting early childhood development and family education.

Visit us today to explore our diverse collections, take advantage of our digital resources, or simply enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of your local library. Whether you're a lifelong resident or a visitor to Marina del Rey, the Lloyd Taber-Marina del Rey Library is your gateway to knowledge, creativity, and community engagement.

"No AC, very small library, only 2 ALL GENDER restrooms. I was shocked. Beverly Hills library is much better"

"This is hard for me to write because the staff is great the play area is good and it has a beautiful view. The last couple of times I was there there have been scary men outside screaming at people (and inside) and also a man had a pit bull in the library who I am guessing was not a service dog. Its not worth taking the chance of having something go bad. There is an armed guard at other branches that take their job seriously (Culver City)and we feel very safe with her there. Was looking for variety but safety is most important."

"I love their selection of travel and sailing books. But I've felt unsafe every time I've come here, even to drop off a book. A couple days ago, I was followed on foot by a needlessly aggravated homeless man who then proceeded to follow me on bike and then try to block my car as I was making my exit. I was so close to running him over. It's the first time, in my whole lifetime of living in L.A, that I've ever felt like I must live in Gotham City now..."

"As other reviews have said, violent homeless men are a major problem. A man on February 26th smoked marijuana in the building, spoke and made loud noises, then swiped someone's belongings off the table and then, with security watching very close by, stood there and watched as this man (who had already walked through metal detection so there was presumably no threat of a gun being pulled at least) swung at staff and landed a punch on the same man who he had swiped all the belongings off the table after clearly communicating intent to attack minutes before hand. So do be warned that you have a likely possibility of being violently attacked in the library with no one to assist you. There is the Playa Vista Branch nearby that has many children and is in a much better (wealthier) neighborhood. At least there may the possibility of parents there who have the balls to voluntarily confront violent people if the security doesn't want to."
