"I had the stem Cell PRP procedure / surgery or call it what you will with Dr. Mary Gendy. This was the most AMAZING procedure I had done to my right knee. I seen Dr. Gendy on Friday and was back to work the following Monday. I was able to drive the next day, walk around without a walker or cruthces. The only pain medication I took was Tylenol 500 mg. I didnt need to take the TyIenol #3 as prescibed. I had orthoscoptic surgery 10 years prior to my right knee. I had a torn meniscus, ligament and other issues with my right knee. I’m very active and when I couldn’t walk anymore, I had Orthoscopic surgery. I was out of work for 3 weeks, a lot of PT, on heavy medication and not to mention I needed a driver to drive me around. I did my research on stem cells PRP and I was willing to try a different approach. Dr. Mary Gendy has more than 10+ years doing these procedures. She is an AMAZING, CARING doctor and I TRUST her. I trust Dr. Gendy so much that I drove my 74-year-old father to the Torrance office who needed a double knee replacement, who was using a walker and couldn’t take his pain any longer. My father had a surgery appointment with a local Bakersfield orthopedic and I cancelled it. My father will be 78-years old this year and hasn’t used the walker since the stem cell PRP. My father attends to his garden, mows the lawn and does other house hold chores. So, yes, my father and I trust Dr. Gendy who understands how to the nerves, ligaments, tendons and muscles work with the joint. We also trusted her to take fluid from our Iliac bone, fat and blood and injected back into the damaged area. My opinion, I would consult with Dr. Gendy before seeing ANY orthopedic. "When considering stem cells or PRP proceed as if you're getting a surgical procedure. Unfortunately Stem cells and PRP are not technically considered a surgical procedure which is a mistake in my opinion. Sadly any doctor can take a weekend course to become certified. When getting stem cells the doctor will either tap into the body's fat or drill into the hip to extract bone marrow to find the stem cells. Both procedures if done incorrectly could cause severe, severe damage. Add that with the fact that a doctor is manipulating your body's fluids to harvest the stem cells to inject into you is all very serious and this is why in my opinion Stem Cells or PRP should be consider a surgical procedure. Also, keep in mind you are asking a doctor to inject your joint so it is paramount that the doctor understands how the nerves, ligaments, tendons and muscles work with the joint. A good doctor will know how to properly inject you. The injections will not be without pain even with numbing done prior to injections. But if you're cringing in pain while being injected and hurt for days or weeks after you have been improperly injected something is wrong. First, find out your doctors background. How often they treat patients and most importantly what is their facility like. There are very good doctors out there that are competent. But you will not find them if you don't meet with and research multiple doctors first. There facility will have a full-time staff and state of the art equipment. There will be an exam room and then a sterile room that is only for injections. If there is only one room where everything is done then technically they do not have a sterile room. Doctors and nurses will be in full scrubs with hair and mouth covered while extracting and injecting. Injections will be done under ultrasound to help guide the needle. Keep in mind infections are very serious and can easily happen when in the wrong environment. Both on the skin and in the joint. Do your research and meet with doctors. And always read reviews!"
