At Harbor-UCLA, we pride ourselves on our mission to address the health needs of our community while tackling the barriers that affect quality of life. Our residents and faculty are deeply committed to serving the most marginalized patients, particularly those facing financial constraints and lack of insurance. Our innovative curriculum empowers residents to become outstanding clinicians by providing hands-on experience in medically underserved and multicultural communities.

Our training program offers comprehensive education in chronic care delivery, acute condition management, procedural skills, and community-based participatory approaches. We actively seek trainees passionate about working with underserved populations, equipping them with the skills and tools necessary to excel as physicians, community advocates, and partners.

Under the guidance of Associate Program Director Dr. Bernadette Pendergraph, our mission is to cultivate resourceful family physicians who advocate for and collaborate with disenfranchised communities. We aim to create healthier communities and eliminate health disparities through our work.

Our family medicine residency program also features a fully-accredited fourth-year Sports Medicine Fellowship, established in 2001, and a Community Health Fellowship launched in July 2020.
