"Be very careful when renting from this location. We were charged an EXTRA $450 for vacuuming because they said it had pet hair in the car. Vacuuming is a basic duty they should be performing every time a car is returned. Nowhere does it say we could not have our pet in the car nor was it excessively Dirty/ full of pet hair- we clean out- but not vacuum cars before returning. We also had a seat protector cover in place where the dog sat so no, there wasn’t any “extra” work that needed to be done. Mind you, this car did not look freshly cleaned let alone detailed when we rented. The only saving grace this company has is their corporate customer service who quickly and kindly reversed the erroneous charges."

"The phone number never works. Have been calling all day. Wanted to submit a lost & found claim on the website but the Long Beach Airport location was showing a different address so it said to contact the location but the number doesn't even work? I realized I left something in the car right after returning so it would have been easier for them to locate if they picked up my call.."

"Rent Enterprise at LGB not this Avis. My most recent trip to Long Beach, the clerk took a rather long time, approximately 10 minutes, just on checking me out. He wasn’t asking any questions so it seemed as though he was newer and not familiar with the systems. The first car I was given wreaked of cigarette smoke. I returned to the counter and had to wait an additional 15 min in line. I then went out to the next car and did not have a car seat ready either time. I had to walk, with my young child, back to the Avis stand to find an employee, and then there was nobody around. After another 5 minutes of waiting I was given a car seat. The car seat was pulled from an outdoor shed and was not covered. The front of it was filthy. Luckily, I turned it over only to discover the back of it covered in spiders. I returned and once again, nobody was available. Waiting another 5 minutes and walking throughout the lot now 4 times with a toddler, I was given another car seat. This car seat was covered in ants. I am a patient person and can deal with waiting and honest mistakes but this car seat situation was so far from acceptable. Luckily I discovered the issue with both of the first two car seats before I put my child in them. The third gentleman who helped me outside finally fixed the issue and retrieved a bagged car seat from another location. He said the back lot people were on break but that he would go get the car seat himself. I appreciated this. Once I finally got the third car seat installed, I was able to get into the car, only to find it the console and dash covered in dirt and grime. The rest of the vehicle had sand throughout it. I was in town for one day due to a significant medical issue with my daughter and this experience made it that much worse and that much more stressful on my child. Once I returned the car, there was a significant wait, putting me past the drop off time I originally selected. This caused me to be charged for an additional day. After receiving my final bill, the additional day was on there, the additional day of a car seat rental was on there, as well as an upgraded vehicle charge for the second vehicle they gave me."

"Waited in line for 30 minutes just to be told the car wasn't ready due to the car wash being down. What a poor excuse. Asked for a free upgrade and was denied. Was told I had to pay for an upgrade. Asked to speak to a manager and never got to speak with one. I called the Customer service line sitting in the lobby. Told them my issue. I asked to cancel my prepaid reservation without any fees tacked on as they had no idea when the car would be available. What a shame. An hour and 30 minutes sitting there without a car. Save yourself the time and book with National. They always have vehicles available. Just stay away from Avis, Hertz, and Budget as they share cars. Lastly, the waiting line isn't marked clearly. The man working the Enterprise counter was also working with Avis too. Never once would acknowledge a customer in the Avis Preferred line. What a shame. Do better Avis!"

"If you are planning to arrive at LGB in the evening, please read this carefully so you do not get stranded without a car. I saw another review mention this scenario, but until it happened to me I didn't fully appreciate the severity of this situation. My family's flight was scheduled to arrive at 9:30pm. Our flight was delayed and ended up deplaning at 9:55pm and making it to the rental office a few minutes after 10pm. The staff must have seen the plane land and knew we were on our way to pick up a pre-paid car reservation. They closed at 10pm sharp (maybe even earlier?). No note, no call, no alternate pickup plans, nothing. Closed. Please understand that if you rent from this location and do not arrive promptly before 10PM - you will be left stranded. I would highly advise from renting from a different company that will wait if your flight is delayed. Hertz stayed open at this location until all passengers were gone."
