Dos Pescados

"Brilliant new addition to Aptos. Unfairly compared to the previous place that was in here (this is much more refined), this is amazing food (all the raw dishes are fantastic and of amazing quality), the cooked food is great and fresh - and the level of Mexican is just right (this isn't trying to be 'authentic Mexican'). Service was great - everyone actually seemed to want to be here, was friendly and knowledgeable). The atmosphere was casual (with a great view outside). But, come for the good. The Crudos are impeccable (no surprise from the Chef of One Fish), but everything shines here at this new addition to the area."

"A bit different than its predecessor, which is OK, but did miss the tasty chips.... Halibut ceviche was nice, but need to garnish with more than just cucumbers. Sea bass was good with a near perfect crust. Tasty salsa, but could use a bit more "bite". Excellent cilantro garnish!! Yes we like cilantro. Enjoyed the margaritas, not too sweet. Service and staff did a good job. We plan on returning in the future."

"We started with roasted shishitos, fabulous. Also had the salmon belly, which was full of other goodies and was rich and delicious. Tuna tostada was next. The quality of tuna is very high. A dozen oysters with spicy mignonette went down smooth. Entrees included vegan enchiladas (mole was amazing), fish tacos (large portion, cooked perfectly), and pan roasted salmon (also cooked and seasoned perfectly). 3 different cocktails were all balanced and delicious. The service here is highly attentive without being intrusive. This is a MUST VISIT RESTAURANT!!"

"I live locally and use to be a regular at Palapas. My guy and I enjoyed the menu and all the dishes we tried last night at Dos Pescados. We especially enjoyed the tuna tostada and snapper ceviche. We found the fish fresh, flavorful and crafted with intention. You can tell they take pride in their menu. We did not love the Palapas menu, so we were happy seeing an elevated menu. We were regulars at Palapas because of the atmosphere and former staff- it's absolutely amazing to see so many familiar faces. The staff, menu and views are exceptional at Dos Pescados. We dined at the bar last night, with Paul, and had a wonderful time. My guy loved the El Jefe marg. We look forward to more nights at Dos Pescados."

"Our review is not meant to be negative but informational to a new restaurant. Here are the recommendation: Change your website and state it is an extreme limited bar menu until 5pm. So people do not go for a late lunch or early dinner. You will be disappointed. Not even a salad option. Charge for your chips and salsa if someone wants more than one basket instead of rationing what you give the customers. Make your salsa and chip plate bigger. You used a salad plate for four people and a bowl smaller than a ramekin Expand your menu to be just a little authentic Mexican. We are not in San Jose. Even people from Fresno want a little more variety. The view is terrific the service friendly. I look forward to returning once the kinks are figured out."
