"I have been taking my mom to Dr. Jaratai for a year now and she has been wonderful. She speaks to us so we can follow what needs to be done. I am just learning to help with her diabetes. She has adjusted some medicine around and with encouragement mom is doing better on her diet. Her units have been decreased so we are now taking one shot a day. She is a smart Doctor and address all my mom's concerns. Plus she takes the time to make sure I know whatever I need to know to help take care of here. I do recommend her."
"Dr. Jarathi is a terrible physician to see for Type 1 Diabetes. When I visited her office in May 2015 as a new patient, I had just moved to Little Rock from Chattanooga TN for my husband's job, she did not answer my questions about concerns of preparing for pregnancy as a T1D and continued to speak to me as though I was a Type 2. She refused to think my neuropathy was possible at my age and didn't prescribe my medication for it because I am 26 and shouldn't have it. I suffered from insulin neuritis when first diagnosed which caused this neuropathy at a young age.I don't think she thought insulin neuritis was a real condition. In addition to the awful office experience, I moved to Saint Louis and an issue came up with ExpressScripts and they needed Dr. Jarathi to verify her prescription. The prescription was written in May 2015 for a year, and they called in January 2016 and she refused to reauthorize the prescription. I spoke to a nurse in her office and explained I cannot get into an endocrinologist in Saint Louis for another month, so could she reauthorize so I can have my medication until I get it. She said yes, and now ExpressScripts says my prescription was denied. The worst case scenario for a diabetic is to not have insulin. I solved my problem by going to a free clinic, but still this is the worst endocrinologist I have ever been to. Brick, a nurse practitioner in her office was much better and I would have rather just seen him for my check-up than deal with Jarathi."
