"I was diagnosed with narcolepsy as a teenager, over 20 years ago. Before a friend recommended Dr. Meskill to me, I saw quite a few doctors, including neurologists who were not sleep specialists who had very little knowledge about the condition and "sleep specialists" who were pulmonologists for whom sleep medicine was just a small part of their practice, and I received OK care but I never felt seen or understood and they weren't always up-to-date on the latest research and treatment options. For example, I brought Xyrem up to a pulmonologist/sleep specialist and he refused to even consider prescribing it because he thought it was too extreme and stimulants should be sufficient. Most of us will attest that stimulants alone are not sufficient. I have been a patient of Dr. Meskill for around 8 years now. I'm moving to Ohio in August and I'm super sad about the idea of having to see a different doctor. Dr. Meskill's care has been life changing for me, not only the impact of the medications but also his approach as a physician. I never feel like he doesn't have enough time to talk through everything with me or explain new treatment options in detail and answer all of my questions, or like I'm being rushed so he can get to his next patient. Dr. Meskill talks to me like I'm a person and not just a patient. It's obvious that he genuinely cares about helping his patients.
