"Great spot to get away but not too far away. We had a blast."

"This place is at the end of probably the longest unpaved public road in the county as of 2018. Excluding Eglin territory...because you can get lost for days there (and I don't recommend that you endeavor to discover that fact firsthand). This is basically a man-made island in the middle of a natural swamp. With several campsites. In the swamp. With swamp creatures. And bugs. I was here in the middle of a bright Saturday morning and I'm fairly convinced that the mutant insects inhabiting the dismal spot are attracted to DEET. I can't imagine, ever, having the urge to camp among the fetid miasma of rotting flotsam of the Escambia River. Apparently there are folks who have that urge, because they left their trash scattered around. Sphincters. If you are are ever in the mood to "get away from it all", come here. Because "all" is elsewhere, but not here. However, there is a handicapped accessible portajohn. Probably be safe from copperheads and snapping turtles in there. For a while, at least."

"It's completely red dirt road so make sure if you go after it rains that it's with a vehicle you won't get stuck. There used to be other routes from the south to get there, but those roads are now closed off due to new homes being built. I went the route on north on Chumuckla Hwy. It's a nice remote location with possible paid camping opportunities, port-o-potty, picnic tables, & outdoor grills. There is sufficient space for RV turn-around. Water is slow flowing nearest boat ramp, however, you can see behind trees and further down that there is a definite faster river flow, so kayakers remember buddy system & be safe. I wouldn't recommend this for swimming."

"A good place to camp and fish for a few days. A reservation/permit is required, but it’s easy to obtain online. There are 3 or 4 campsites with picnic tables and a grill. Also a port-a-potty. It was quiet while I was here. Just some local fisherman using the boat ramp during the day."
