Our Mission

Since its inception in 1998, the Herkimer County Integrated County Planning (ICP) initiative has aimed to enhance outcomes for children and families through strategic collaboration. By bringing together leaders from government, health, mental health, social services, education, law enforcement, and community organizations, we identify priority issues, enhance coordination, and optimize resource use.

Key Initiatives and Achievements

- Family Support PINS Program: Launched in 2003, this program provides counseling, probation, preventive strategies, and family support services, enabling youth to remain in their homes and communities rather than in costly residential facilities.

- Return Home Early Project: Established in 2008, this initiative focuses on transitioning children from residential facilities to community-based services, ensuring they receive the support they need at home.

Our efforts have yielded significant results, including a dramatic reduction in foster care numbers and a substantial decrease in juvenile placements, saving the community approximately two million dollars.
