"We hiked a bit more than two miles out, to the east end of Cascade Lake, and back. Two days after heavy rain, mid August, the trail was in great shape (kudos to those who maintain it!), albeit some short muddy sections (not hard to skirt)."

"The actal trailhead parking extends this to about 6.3 miles in total. It's located about a quarter mile further up Big Moose Rd. We both clocked it, and the 5 miles is inaccurate if you count from the start. Trail is very wide except the far end of the lake it gets a little narrow and tricky. Never difficult. If you go clockwise at the split around the lake you will be rewarded with closeup views around the lake early on. There's also an old girl scout camp remnants that have a large open grass area for free camping if you choose (complete with firepit). The halfway point has a nice small waterfalls before heading back. The other side of the Cascade Lake trail, you cannot see the lake unless you go way off trail as it meanders far away from the lake. Overall a fun & easy trail, just watch out for a LOT of horse droppings, as they use some of the trail for horsebacking. It took us 4hrs, but that's factoring in time spent enjoying the fall foliage, the camp, and waterfalls."

"Bad hike. Waterfall was not worth the 4 hour round trip, and "a bit muddy in spots" is putting it extremely politely. A local horse jerk brings huge groups of people here and ruins the trail for everyone else. Parts of the trail are entirely made of ground horse droppings."

"Fun trail!!! A bit muddy in spots. 6.25 miles in all. Look out for horse land mines."

"A good hike with a nice waterfall and lake to view. Most of the trail is in good condition. Watch out for the road apples (horses use the trail also)."
