About the Business

Bayside Cemetery

Welcome to Bayside Cemetery

Located at 730 County Road 59 in Potsdam, New York, Bayside Cemetery is a serene and historical resting place that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and rich history. With 42 acres of meticulously maintained burial grounds, Bayside serves as a peaceful haven for reflection and remembrance, inviting visitors to connect with nature and honor the memories of those who have passed.

Founded with a commitment to preserving both the environment and the heritage of our community, Bayside Cemetery is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Our grounds feature architecturally significant structures, including the recently restored cross-bearing tower at our sandstone entrance. We are actively working towards further enhancements, such as the restoration of the urn-bearing tower and adjacent walls, with the support of generous donations from our community.

At Bayside Cemetery, we offer comprehensive resources for those seeking information about our burial and cremains sites, including pricing, special events, and a searchable database to help locate individual and family gravesites. Our website provides detailed maps and images of the cemetery, as well as information about visiting opportunities.

We are dedicated to sustainable practices and are excited to introduce our new natural burial option, which has been featured in the Watertown Daily Times and discussed by board member John Omohundro on local media. Our commitment to the environment is further demonstrated by the recent planting of ten Princeton elm trees, chosen for their resilience to Dutch elm disease and suitability to the North Country climate.

Bayside Cemetery thrives thanks to the support and involvement of our community. We are grateful for the efforts of local volunteers, including students and athletes from Clarkson University and SUNY Potsdam, who help us maintain the beauty of our grounds. Our status as a 501(c)(13) organization means that donations to the Bayside Cemetery Association are tax-deductible, and we welcome contributions of time and money to continue our mission.

Explore our new Pines Urn Garden, completed in the summer of 2020, and discover the peaceful ambiance that makes Bayside Cemetery a cherished part of our community. For more information or to make a donation, please visit our website and click on "Donate."

Join us at Bayside Cemetery, where history, nature, and community come together in a place of lasting peace and beauty.

"Today, Oct 13, 2019 was a perfect day to enjoy autumnally glorious peace and solitude at the cemetery. A wedding took place here in the morning! At first I thought, why would anybody want to have a wedding ceremony at a cemetery? But it actually makes sense! Because today, under the blue sky and majestic autumnal foliage, this cemetery looked spectacular!"

"Historical cemetery with beautiful views of the river. Clarkson family is buried here to include the family's horse tomb that might have been a station for the underground railroad...probably a good bet as a chimney is sticking out of it. This cemetery displays the huge costs to the families that lost son's to the Civil War. A nice quiet place for a walk or reflection. The cemetery caretaker's building is so beautiful!"
