"I want to thank the Nesconset FD for promptly responding to a call at my home last night when the fireplace flue accidentally got closed while adding an log and flames started licking out of the fireplace causing severe smoke. They arrived quickly and assessed the situation, didn’t put out the fire or use any extinguishers, simply opened the flue. It was an accident but could have been way worse had I not called 911. They then stayed and cleared the air and smoke with their equipment and opened all the windows, making sure the CO2 levels were safe to return inside. There were so many fire fighters but they made no mess at all and treated me and my property with the utmost respect and care. They even gently made some suggestions around the home to prevent any other future problems. I am extremely grateful to everyone who responded, as it was a frightening situation that they took care of efficiently, putting everyone out of harms way. Thanks to AJ and all of the responders, what a great Team!"
