"When I saw this library for the first time... It literally took my breath away. It looks like a small equally grand version of the Library of Congress. You could spend hours looking through she shelves at the range of books from Dante to Dickens and Austen. Seeing J.P. Morgn's study just across from the library is also so interesting. Absolutely loved this museum and loved the opportunity to see amazing collections of both books and art. Friday's are free from 5-8."
"Definitely worth a visit. A few rooms have the most beautiful architecture and antique furnishes. They have different art offerings every 3 months apart from the permanent pieces. They also have a free tour offered that covers some of the art there"
"Morgan Library & Museum is NOT a library! It is a (very nice) museum. I wondered why it was called “library”. Apparently, the building once belonged some rich toff called Morgan, and his ‘library’ was then opened up for general public later on. As you might have guessed, it wasn’t the kind of ‘library’ you and I are familiar with. They don’t give you library cards and you won’t be checking out any books. It’s a kind of ‘library’ that rich people build and store first editions of such and such to make them feel good about themselves. That Morgan chap was probably the namesake of one of the big corporate banks still operating today. I feel like there are a couple of banks with that name, but I can’t keep track of all them Morgans. This place reminds me of Gilded Age, the HBO show. It’s from that same era. The amount of wealth one individual managed to accumulate is just overwhelming. They have on display so many rare books and beautiful artefacts. In addition to the ‘library’, they also have exhibition spaces. When I visited, they had an exhibition on Beatrice Potter. All in all, this is a very charming museum to visit. Highly recommend it."
"Wow! What an amazing library. Thanks to JP Morgan, now everyone can enjoy it. It's not a huge place, but there are several galleries in addition to the library. I love the one by Beatrice Potter, who created the Peter Rabbit. It will take you probably a couple of hours to see everything. If course you should not miss the beautiful and magnificent library."
