About the Business

Little Peepers Preschool

Welcome to Little Peepers Preschool, a unique learning experience located at 130 Bayview Avenue, East Islip, New York. Nestled within the scenic South Shore Nature Center, our preschool offers a pioneering nature-based education program for children ages 3 to 6. Guided by the belief that it’s never too early to cultivate a connection with nature, our curriculum combines environmental education with traditional play-based learning, providing children with a rich, hands-on experience.

Our program, inspired by the spirited Spring Peeper frog, is the first of its kind in Suffolk County. It offers two daily sessions, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., five days a week. Children will explore and learn through activities that integrate science, art, music, math, language & literacy, and dramatic play, all through the lens of the natural world.

In addition to our preschool program, we offer Tiny Trekkers, a delightful series of weekly outdoor programs for children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers. Held every Tuesday at 1 p.m., these hour-long sessions focus on seasonal topics through engaging activities like planting, scavenger hunts, arts-and-crafts, and hikes. Tiny Trekkers alternate between the Suffolk County Environmental Center in Islip and the South Shore Nature Center, providing diverse natural settings for exploration.

For families and individuals with a passion for nature, our all-ages programs offer enriching experiences suitable for everyone, while our adult programs delve into more advanced topics with expert instruction. We also invite young nature enthusiasts to join our summer programs, where they can further explore their interests in wildlife, plants, and the environment.

Operated by the Seatuck Environmental Association in partnership with the Town of Islip, Suffolk County, and The Nature Conservancy, the South Shore Nature Center is a hub for environmental education and conservation. As a nonprofit organization, Seatuck is dedicated to preserving Long Island’s wildlife and natural habitats.

Join us at Little Peepers Preschool, where children embark on a journey of discovery and develop a lifelong appreciation for the world around them. For more information and to view our program calendar, please visit our website. Registration for all programs is now open.
