About the Business

Strawberry Fields

Welcome to Strawberry Fields, a serene and poignant tribute located in the heart of Manhattan, New York. Nestled within the iconic Central Park, Strawberry Fields is a living memorial dedicated to the legendary British rock musician and peace activist, John Lennon. This enchanting five-acre landscape, situated near the West 72nd Street entrance, invites visitors from around the world to pay homage to Lennon and celebrate his enduring legacy of peace and creativity.

Named after the beloved Beatles song "Strawberry Fields Forever," this unique memorial was thoughtfully designed in collaboration with Yoko Ono and the Central Park Conservancy. It features an international garden of peace, adorned with plants and stones contributed by various countries, symbolizing global unity and harmony. At its heart lies the Imagine mosaic, a striking design element donated by the city of Naples, Italy, which serves as a focal point for reflection and remembrance.

Strawberry Fields is not just a static monument; it's a vibrant, evolving landscape that offers tranquility and respite within the bustling city. The area is beautifully integrated into Central Park's overall design, with winding paths, small meadows, and lush vegetation, providing a serene setting for contemplation and connection with nature.

Officially dedicated on October 9, 1985, on what would have been Lennon's 45th birthday, Strawberry Fields stands as a testament to his vision of a world filled with peace and love. It is one of several musical memorials in Central Park, alongside tributes to other greats like Duke Ellington and Beethoven.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, art lover, or simply seeking a peaceful stroll, Strawberry Fields offers a meaningful experience for visitors of all ages. Join us in celebrating the spirit of John Lennon and the beauty of Central Park by exploring this cherished landmark. Your support through donations, membership, and volunteering helps keep this public treasure vibrant and accessible for generations to come.

"Very cool vibe. Honors the legacy of John Lenon. You can relax here, several benched, and rotating local artists. I think every hour."

"Parking is available. Tickets are cash only at the entrance. It’s a relatively smaller animal zoo. They have a grocery store and hot food as well. It was an OK experience. We had more fun because of being together with the family than the place itself."

"Memorial site in honor of John Lennon. A mosaic circle with the inscription "Imagine". A shady place, with many benches for sitting. When I visited there was a street musician playing John Lennon songs on the guitar. It was very pleasant. All around there are stalls with art about John Lennon."

"Great place to stop by when cruising around Central Park! Here you will find the John Lennon Imagine memorial and lots of people selling Beatles souvenirs. When I visited there was also people playing John Lennon music and it made for a great way to spend a half hour in the park."

"Visiting here was on our must do list. Everything was immaculate and the entertainment top notch. Great venue for all ages, lots of benches and history to feel. Weighing around and listen to musicians play for some time. There was also a man selling poetry he typed out on a manual typewriter. Needless to say there are all sorts, for the people watchers out there. Highly recommend and we will visit again."
