About the Business

Welcome to the Bronx Library Center, your gateway to a world of knowledge and community engagement in the heart of The Bronx. Located at 310 East Kingsbridge Road, our library is the largest public library in the borough, offering a vast array of resources and services for all ages.
Explore our extensive collections of fiction and nonfiction books, available for checkout, and dive into the rich cultural offerings in the Dr. Jay M. Gorell Reference Reading Room, featuring the Latino and Puerto Rican Cultural Collection and monthly art exhibitions. Our third floor is not only home to these collections but also to our free outdoor terrace, soon to be reinvigorated into a vibrant community space designed to combat the heat island effect. We invite you to share your thoughts on this exciting transformation through our community survey.
The Bronx Library Center is more than just books. Discover our wide range of programs, from engaging workshops and classes to our Job Fair & Expo, where you can build your LinkedIn profile, connect with potential employers, and access valuable career resources. Organizations interested in participating in the expo are encouraged to submit an application to reserve their spot.
For children and teens, our dedicated areas offer a welcoming space to explore and learn. Adults can enhance their English language skills through our comprehensive programs, improving writing, reading, speaking, and listening abilities. Our library also provides convenient services like document printing directly from your personal device, with a fee of $0.20 per page.
Please note that as of November 22, 2023, IDNYC services are no longer available at our location, and due to new library policies, e-bikes, e-scooters, and electronic transportation devices are not permitted inside any NYPL location, excluding mobility aids.
Designed by Dattner Architects, the Bronx Library Center opened its doors on January 17, 2006, as NYPL's first green library, earning the prestigious LEED Silver Certification Award in 2007. We proudly serve as a digital repository for the Central Business District Tolling Program, contributing to sustainable urban development.
Join us in celebrating the creativity of our community through events like the poetry and art showcase by the PEP for Seniors Group. The Bronx Library Center is committed to supporting our community with the resources and services they need during challenging times.

Reviews
"Love this place, have been going for years, clean and librarians are very helpful."
"There are around 5 floors each are designated for different things like the first floor is for Teens only and the others above are places like the terrace computer room or an adult only floor. There are many books about different topics ranging from manga to study books. There are many different sorts of programs that they do almost daily. If you are looking for a Library that has a sense of community this one is a great choice!"
"This library has the best hours out of all the branches. During the week they are open until 9pm and even open on Sundays. The space is large and well kept, the children's area is very nice and the staff was very helpful."
"Large, clean facility. The children’s area is large and spacious with clean, always locked bathrooms. The security guard will check your bag on leaving as there is not an alarm system tracking the books. Great selection for adults and children. On Fordham, near parks and a multitude of shopping and restaurants."
"Update 3/5/2021- this location is only for pick up and drop off. This library is huge. They do search your bags when you are leaving out.The children’s area is very well kept as well the restrooms. They have security on every floor, if you actually want to get work done and use the computer it’s best if you go early before all the computers are occupied."
