Inspection Services:

- Electrical Inspections: Available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 PM to 4 PM.

- Plumbing Inspections: Available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 PM to 3:30 PM.

Important Guidelines:

- Contractors are responsible for the removal of construction materials. Homeowners handling their own projects should contact Interstate Waste Services at 201-768-5407 for refuse collection details and potential charges.

- Garage Sale Permits are available for $10.00, limited to four times per year per address, and valid for up to two consecutive days. Contact Julia Martino, our Building Department Technical Assistant, at 201-767-3330 Ext. 213 for permits or visit our department.

Permit Requirements:

- A permit is mandatory for the replacement of hot water heaters or furnaces to ensure safety and compliance. Failure to obtain a permit and inspection may result in a $250.00 fine.

Real Estate Transactions:

- A Certificate of Continued Occupancy is required by law when selling your home. This should be obtained at least twenty days before closing. Forms are available online or by calling our department.
