Bronx River Greenway

Welcome to the Bronx River Greenway, a vibrant and transformative park experience located in White Plains, New York. Spanning approximately 20 miles along the scenic Bronx River, our Greenway offers a multi-use path perfect for walking, running, and wheeled activities. It serves as a vital connector between communities, stretching north to south and east to west, and is on its way to becoming a fully-realized 23-mile greenway thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Bronx River Alliance.

Our mission is to reclaim and restore river access, expand green spaces, and enhance the quality of life for Bronx residents. With significant portions like Shoelace Park and areas within Bronx Park already revitalized, we continue to develop new open spaces, turning former industrial sites into beautiful parkland. Our community-focused approach ensures that residents are actively involved in designing parks and implementing projects, fostering invaluable experiences and community connections.

The Bronx River Greenway is more than just a path; it's a testament to imagination, environmental remediation, and community collaboration. Our Greenway Program is dedicated to developing open spaces, restoring existing parks, and integrating them into a continuous network of trails and parks along the river. Central to our restoration efforts is Starlight Park, once an amusement park, now a key part of the Greenway. We're working diligently to close a crucial 2/3-mile gap to ensure safe, continuous travel for all. By incorporating green infrastructure like rain gardens and green roofs, we not only manage stormwater effectively but also enhance neighborhood beauty, create habitats, and improve air quality.

The Greenway Team, made up of community-based and agency planners, designers, organizers, and advocates, plays a pivotal role in guiding the planning and programming of the Greenway. They ensure ongoing dialogue about design and priorities, promote the Greenway's use, and organize events that bring people together to enjoy biking, walking, learning, and relaxing.
