"We happened on the station while visiting the Piermont Pier to catch the action with spawning striped bass moving upriver. This passenger rail station and telegraph office skirts the Palisades above the town and below Route 9W on a steep switch back road. The rails are gone and have been replaced by a hard packed gravel rail trail. We walked from the station to the Mario Cuomo Bridge, but it goes much farther, through Nyack to Haverstraw along the Hudson River and connects to the Tallman Estuary trails. It is also part of the Long Path. In this area for over two miles, the trail is a level grade and we did see mountain bikers and deer and there are mansions above and below the path, some of which were homes to celebrities, such as newsman, Mike Wallace, actress Margot Kidder, and comedian, Bill Murray."
"Cute converted station along the railtrail. Seems to never be open when I pass by. There is a small parking area right at the trailhead. Tail runs N/S from Sparkhill to Kayak with nice river views."
"Old RR station along Old Erie Rail Trail. Very scenic bike ride with views of the Hudson River and the Tappan Zee bridge."
"If you have 2-4 days to spare I recommend for anybody to travel the scenic route from piedmont all the way to Syracuse or buffalo NY. This train station is a 5 minute pit stop away from many other beautiful scenic walkways along route 1-9W heading to NYS. It’s free and has a light trail walkway you can take."
"The walk north along the previous Erie RR is flat....good for biking, running and walking. It's usually very peaceful and shaded, with gorgeous views if the Hudson River. The station itself is quaint, but not operational."
