About the Business

Seatuck Environmental Association

Welcome to the Seatuck Environmental Association, a unique blend of museum, park, and tourist attraction located at 550 South Bay Avenue, Islip, New York. Our mission is to conserve Long Island's wildlife and natural habitats, making our community a vibrant place for both people and nature.

At Seatuck, we offer a myriad of opportunities for you to get involved and support our cause. Whether you're interested in becoming a community scientist, volunteering your time and expertise, or making a donation, every contribution helps protect the diverse wildlife that calls Long Island home. Our efforts particularly focus on safeguarding species like the Least Terns and other seabirds that depend on our beaches for nesting.

We take pride in our educational programs that inspire and engage all age groups. Our adventurous after-school programs cater to students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, while our public programs are designed for pre-school children, students, adults, and families. We also offer specialized training for teachers and professionals through initiatives like the Greentree Teachers’ Ecology Workshop.

Stay informed and participate in our monthly educational webinar series, which highlights community science opportunities. Don’t miss our upcoming session, “Mammals of Long Island,” on November 16.

Additionally, we urge you to join our ACTION ALERT! Help us ensure New York takes a historic step to protect horseshoe crab populations by supporting the legislation passed in June that prohibits their commercial and biomedical harvest. Your advocacy is crucial in urging Governor Hochul to sign this legislation into law.

Visit us and experience the natural beauty and wonder of Long Island through our various programs and initiatives. Seatuck is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, and with your support, we can continue to make a significant impact in conserving our environment for generations to come. "Seatuck is a group of caring, knowledgeable people working to maintain Long Island's natural beauty and wildlife. What's not to love about that?! There is a thread of authenticity that runs through each member of this group that binds them together to create a formidable force. I'm impressed with their selflessness, competence and most importantly, results! Please help them save our amazing island and its inhabitants [wild or otherwise!!]."

"Nice little space to walk through on your way to the beach. There's a very easy loop trail with lots of boardwalk. They regularly host environmental and conservationist events. Proud to have this place in our town."

"A wonderful oasis, preserved for all generations, along the Great South Bay of Long Island. One of my favorite spots for hiking with my children, walking on well maintained trails and boardwalks through the woods, marshes and reeds."

"People running this place for the past 10 years are very rude and racist. I cannot believe how they treat people after we gave them a donation. Clearly we got kicked out because we were to loud. They called us the circus. Very disrespectful both of them. After they called us the circus they were we are only allowed to take pictures in the front and we are not allowed to go no where else. What kind of customer service is that? Clearly they just want to take donations and miss treat people. I do NOT recommend this place at all."
