Welcome to the Rohde Community Center

Located at 2 East Church Street in Adams, New York, the Rohde Community Center is dedicated to alleviating hunger and providing essential food resources to residents of southern Jefferson County. Since 1977, we have been a beacon of hope, offering emergency food assistance and promoting food security through various programs designed to support our community members with dignity and respect.

Our Mission

At the Rohde Community Center, we believe that hunger denies dignity, reduces human energy, and hinders the potential for success. Our mission is to combat food insecurity by offering a range of services that provide nutritious food to individuals and families in need, without discrimination.

Programs and Services

- Emergency Food Pantry: We offer five days of emergency food each month to eligible households, ensuring that everyone over the age of two receives the nourishment they need. Our service area includes nine towns and three school districts: Belleville-Henderson, Sackets Harbor, and South Jefferson.

- Fresh Foods Distribution: In collaboration with the Food Bank of Central New York, Nourish New York, and local grocery stores and farmers, we provide fresh produce, dairy, and bread to our neighbors. Distributions occur monthly on the fourth Friday, with the next event scheduled for August 23, 2024, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

- Food $en$e Food Co-op: This monthly food buying co-op offers everyone the opportunity to stretch their grocery dollars, with no qualifications required. For just $20.50, participants can receive a selection of staple grocery items at a discounted price.

Supporting Our Cause

Your generous donations make a significant impact. For every $1 donated, we can purchase over $10.50 worth of food through the Food Bank of Central New York. Donations can be made via check, money order, or through PayPal on our website. We also welcome food donations, ensuring that all items are within their "Sell by" or "Best if used by" dates.

We are immensely grateful for the support from our community, including the 2,192 volunteer hours contributed by dedicated individuals. As an all-volunteer organization with a part-time Food Pantry Manager, we rely on the kindness and generosity of our neighbors to continue serving those in need.
