About the Business

Cassadaga Lakes Nature Park

Welcome to Cassadaga Lakes Nature Park, a serene haven for nature enthusiasts located at 20 Ulrich Park Drive, Cassadaga, New York 14718. Nestled along the picturesque shoreline of Cassadaga Lakes, this park spans 77 acres of ecologically rich landscapes. With 1,100 feet of pristine lakeshore, it serves as a vital sanctuary for diverse wildlife and plant species.

Explore our 26 acres of lakefront wetlands and 51 acres of rolling forests, predominantly home to hemlock and white pine trees. These habitats provide a refuge for a remarkable array of wildlife, including over 175 bird species, making it a premier birdwatching destination in Chautauqua County and a proud addition to the New York State Birding Trail.

Our conservation efforts ensure the protection of naturally vegetated lakeshores, which play a crucial role in filtering farm and field runoff before it reaches the lakes. This natural filtration system supports a healthy ecosystem, offering a safe haven for birds, frogs, salamanders, snakes, and waterfowl.

Visitors can enjoy two moderately developed trails: the easy loop (0.8 miles) marked with orange markers, and the center loop (1.8 miles) marked with blue markers. These trails offer varied experiences, from gentle strolls to more challenging hikes through rolling terrains. Take in the beauty from our wildlife viewing platform, complete with benches and a bird blind overlooking Mud Lake. Start your adventure at our welcoming kiosk pavilion located near the entrance and parking area.

While fishing access is limited due to the dense swampy shoreline, the park is perfect for birdwatching, botanizing, and nature walks. Discover the seasonal pools hosting amphibians and enjoy views of the glacial kettle lake known as Mud Lake. The park is home to a variety of flora, including red and sugar maples, spice bush, and a vibrant array of wildflowers.

Conveniently located on the south shore of the upper Cassadaga Lakes basin, the park is accessible via NY Route 60. A small parking area accommodates about six regular-sized vehicles. Immerse yourself in the tranquility and natural beauty of Cassadaga Lakes Nature Park, where every visit promises a new discovery.

"Very nice trail to Mud lake and Beaver pond"

"Very well kept trails that have several wonderful nature signs along the way. A great pavilion to start off the trails and a great blind to view Mud Lake from. The loop trail is more up and down and goes by the beaver pond, would recommend only if you can walk on inclines and unstable ground at times. The easy trail is flat, dry and short, that’s where the signs are located. Great trail for birding."
