"Does great work and is willing to work on my unique truck I've got"
"I've gone to Gary's for years - and have always had great things to say about the service center. Reliable and convenient. Sadly my latest experiences with them has me questioning their ability and relevancy in dealing with modern cars... and by modern my car is a 2013. Not exactly brand new. Long story short: I love supporting my local businesses. I will always go out of my way do that. However the bare minimum for me is reasonable customer service and honesty. Treat me respectably as your customer (i.e. don't waste my time) and be honest when your business is not capable of doing what is required. If your garage cannot handle programming tire sensors - that is OK. If your garage cannot deal with an unplanned failed ignition switch in a timely manner - that is OK. I would have still supported your business the next time I had work your garage could handle. Saga: Winter 2022 - I started having issues a TPMS light on my dash. For my car if the TPMS light is on it affects the traction control system. NOT helpful in the winter... Gary's replaced the tire pressure sensors. I had to take the car back at least twice until they were properly programmed. They turned the car back over to me twice with the TPMS light still on. Summer 2022 - TPMS light came back on. It was summer, so I didn't worry about it for the season. Nov 2022 - I dropped my car off for an inspection, snow tires put on, and deal with the TPMS light. They called me about 30 minutes later saying my key would not turn in the ignition. Unfortunately for me - my ignition switch decided to die right there. I believe them (there were symptoms leading up to this). Bad luck for me, but at least I didn't have to tow the car...so I thought. I called Gary's nearly every day for the next 4 weeks. Anytime I got through to them, they said "tomorrow" they would work on the car. They kept blaming each other within the garage for not answering the phone, failing to write down messages, saying they "can't figure out how to get the car into the garage due to the ignition issue" and also cited some personnel health issues (that bit I do empathize with). They didn't order the replacement switch until 4 weeks after I dropped it off. They had the car for nearly 5 weeks. I paid $1700 (this was fair and mostly parts): for a new ignition switch, and programming the new key and basically the snow tire swap. The TPMS light was still on and the inspection was not complete. They gave me a 10 day sticker, because they said they had to replace the battery and I needed to drive ~50 miles for that to reset. Admittedly it was an older battery, but the car had also been sitting idle for a month.... so I'm a bit doubtful on the need to replace it. I was given two sets of keys - the new key for the new ignition and the old key for unlocking the doors (fob no longer works). They did the inspection after the battery reset later that day. TPMS, the multiple keys, and not having a car for month still an issue. Dec 2022 - After Xmas, I take my car to the dealership. That day the dealership programmed both the key and tire pressure sensors for $80. Told me a could ditch the second key for $100, but the stock keys were on back order - can fix later if I wish. Jan 2023 - About a month later the TPMS light comes on again. I take it to the dealership, they report I need to abandon these 3rd market sensors Gary's installed. $1100. I've also noticed recently that the cover on my steering wheel assembly is missing. Gary's lost the cover when they replaced the ignition switch... I called, and they said they will order a new one. I haven't heard back from them... I will have to again reach out to them, but I'll be damned if I pay for it at this point. Overall I'm disappointed and frustrated with this experience."
"DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!Call another shop. I had a wheel bearing replaced and a few weeks later I’m getting the same noise so who knows the quality that went into that. Had my car looked at for another issue and they wanted an outrageous price to fix it. I called another mechanic and they agreed the price was not accurate. Employees are rude and not willing to explain what needs fixed and pricing behind it. Save your money and go elsewhere. They don’t even give you a true itemized receipt because they don’t want you to know you’re being scammed."
"I dropped my vehicle off at 8:30am to have them check vehicle for AC issue and the left front tire had been making a noise when I made a hard left turn and all the weight was on that tire. They were supposed to call to let me know the issues before doing any work. I called at 1:08pm and they still had not looked at vehicle, but told me they would definitely have the vehicle done that day. I called again at 4:10pm, knowing their shop closed at 4:30. They told me they test drive the vehicle and it was making a lot of noise, the guy in phone said he could hear it all the way down the road. I asked if we were talking about same vehicle as the noise I had described to them only happened when making a left turn, not when just driving the vehicle. I asked if they were able to look at AC. He stated no but there was a leak in it. How do you know there is a leak when you just stated you haven’t had tome to look at it?! I told them I was coming to pick up the vehicle. They were insistent that I leave the vehicle over night. I said no, I am coming to pick it up. I asked if it was safe to drive and they assured me that it was. When I got there they of course were all gone. I tried to leave and the vehicle had chattering in front end, brakes grinding and squealing even when I was not applying the brakes and the tire rim is gouged you. None of this was happening when I dropped it off to them at 8:30am!!! I parked the vehicle and called a friend that referred me to the shop through another friend who was not will to give us their personal phone number. He did call them and their response was “ well she needs it fixed” So it is ok to damage a vehicle and tell the customer it is safe to drive when you clearly know the vehicle or cannot be driven?! I had to have the vehicle taken to another shop, and here I am a week later with no vehicle to drive because we cannot figure out what exactly they did to it to cause all the problems it is having now that it did not have when I dropped the vehicle off to them."
"I worked in the Automotive Industry for over 30 years with AAA and I was totally impressed with Gary's Service Center. Great & let me repeat, GREAT prices, no ups & extras. Gary knows what he's doing and I highly recommend getting your vehicle repairs & maintenance done here. I've had oil changes, brakes, tire removal/installation on both cars here and got both excellent service as well as excellent pricing."
