Welcome to Canton Neighborhood Center
Located at 5 West Street, Canton, New York 13617, the Canton Neighborhood Center is a vital part of the St. Lawrence County Community Development Program (CDP). Our mission is to empower individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency and equal opportunities through education, guidance, and comprehensive services.
At the heart of our efforts is a commitment to quality customer service for our program participants. We strive to create a supportive work environment that encourages creativity and innovation, adhering to best practices in all aspects of our organization.
Our Services:
- Food Pantry: We operate a food pantry that provides essential nourishment to low-income families, ensuring no one in our community goes hungry.
- Head Start Program: This federally funded school readiness program caters to children aged 3 to 5, offering a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. Our certified teachers are equipped to accommodate children with special needs. [Click here to start the enrollment process!]
- Housing Choice Voucher Program: In partnership with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), we offer rental assistance to income-eligible families, aiming to provide safe and affordable housing options.
- Weatherization Program: Designed to enhance the safety and energy efficiency of homes, this program offers services like insulation and furnace tune-ups. Eligibility is based on income guidelines.
- Emergency Assistance: We provide support for emergency shelter, utilities, and individual or family development services.
- Community Resources: We offer references to other programs and resources available through various organizations to further assist our community members.
Our center thrives with the indispensable help of community volunteers who support our services and fundraising events. There are numerous opportunities for you to get involved and make a difference.
Every three years, the St. Lawrence County CDP conducts a comprehensive community needs assessment to ensure our services align with the evolving needs of our community.
