Castaways Steak & Seafood

"While visiting family on Long Island, a large group of us ate dinner at Castaways Steak & Seafood. It is located in the heart of Port Jefferson. My brother is one of the owners of this restaurant, so I was excited to check it out. The place has a great vibe with a nautical theme, as you feel like you are on a ship. They have a very cool bar with an impressive craft cocktail selection. I like vodka, so I tried the Eifel 65 and Tranquilitea. They were both very good and refreshing cocktais. We shared a bunch of appetizers, including the Baby Lamb Chops, Oysters Rockefeller, Calamari, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, and Peppered Shrimp. They were all delicious, but I highly recommend the lamb chops and bacon wrapped scallops. For a salad, I tried the watermelon salad. It was so tasty with the arugula, strawberries, and balsamic glaze on the watermelon. At this point, I am getting full before the main course arrived. I split the Surf and Turf sandwich with my son. The amount of lobster on this sandwich is very generous. We also had the parmesan Truffle Fries and the lobster Mac as a side. Wow, they were so good. I also tried a bite of my daughter's Chilean Sea Bass that I also liked. My brother let me try a piece of his petit filet with gorgonzola cheese. The steak was so tender. Our party did order dessert, but I was so full, I could not eat another bite. We were fortunate to have Rainna as our waitress, and she gave our large party exceptional service. Castaways is such a wonderful dining experience, and I highly recommend eating and drinking here. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here often."

"This was our first time dining at Castaways and we really enjoyed it! We were greeted by the very friendly staff. Our waitress, Gianna, was pleasant, super attentive, and made sure we were always good. She was helpful with recommendations from the menu. The food came out quickly, was hot, and tasty. We ordered the fried calamari, the watermelon burrata salad, chicken fingers and fries for our daughter, true tuna tacos, the mahi mahi tacos, and the jerk chicken tacos. We appreciated that they had a kids menu as well as cute kids drink cup that went with the pirate theme at Castaways. Everything was a decent portion. The calamari and salad were amazing. The tuna tacos were the best. The mahi mahi tacos were a tad salty. The jerk chicken tacos were ok…they could have used a bit more jerk seasoning (spicier) and perhaps some tamarind sauce would have tied the whole dish together. Overall, we had a wonderful lunch here and highly recommend this restaurant. We can’t wait to come back and try out the rest of the menu!"

"Dropped into Port Jeff for lunch after visiting friends in the area. Ordered the Lobster Bisque and Crab Cakes apps. Wife ordered Blackened Chicken with Pesto Basil. Outstanding! Chunks of lobster, tasty crab cakes, and my wife said there was something really special about her chicken. Usually she shares. NOT TODAY. Service was attentive but not intrusive. U can choose to eat in the AC dining room, or in the patio under the umbrellas. Great mid day meal on the harbor. Will be back."

"The restaurant with the back of a sailing ship built into the front of the building. Inside had some of the walls blown out, very spacious. We ate outside, it. Was really nice out. Tranquilitea and Marathon Runner cocktails were great! Lobster bisque and Wedge salad with blue cheese dressing were awesome! I got the King Salmon and Carleen got the Ponzu Tuna, both were so awesome! High-end flavor entrees! Creme Brulee and Baileys coffee to cap off an enjoyable memorable evening! True 5 stars! "Amazing! Had a retirement party here everything was fantastic. The service was great the food was amazing. Everyone had a great time. From planning to eating every detail was great. The staff went above and beyond. Will definitely go back."
